Biography of Mike Aubrey
Mike Aubrey was born and grew up in the small coal mining village of Gilfach Goch, just a stones throw away from Pontypridd, Tom Jones' home town. Indeed both their fathers worked at the same coal mine (Cwm Colliery Beddau).
Mike spent his teen years playing drums and singing with the Welsh R & B band "The Mountain Men", performing in the working mens clubs and dance halls of the South Wales Valleys. Tom Jones' earlier band "Tommy Scott and the Senators" had worked the same circuit a year or two earlier.
The Mountain Men soon became one of South Wales' most popular band supporting many of the countries big names, including The Animals, Small Faces, Fortunes Swinging Blue Jeans and the Nashville Teens.
Since those early days Mike has become one of the most respected and popular Vocal Acts in Wales. He is able to sing anything from Blues and Rock, to Soul, Big Band and West End show songs with equal ease. The Stage newspaper quoted:
"Mike Aubrey's vocal style and choice of material are straight out of the top drawer, a truly inspired performance".
Mike has been performing the Tom Jones Tribute show since 2005 and has appeared in many of Wales' major venues including the Celtic Manor Resort, Cardiff Hilton, Cardiff Civic Centre, Morgans Hotel The Marina Swansea, and the Ramada and Shearings hotel chains.
Mike also injects some typical welsh valleys humour into the act which makes for an enjoyable evenings entertainment.
